WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN

Students will be introduced to:

• Keyboard geography and proper playing position
• Finger numbers and basic keyboard technique
• Rhythm and steady beat
• Beginning music notation and note reading
• Simple chords, melodies, and familiar songs
• Playing independently and together as a group
• Healthy, confidence-building practice habits

ENROLLMENT DEPOSIT

A $20 enrollment deposit is required to reserve your child’s place while enrollment is finalized. This is not an additional fee; the full $20 will be applied toward the $300 semester tuition.

Beginner Keyboard Club requires a minimum of four enrolled students to run. If the minimum enrollment is not reached, or if Jot & Tittle Studios is unable to offer the program as scheduled, the $20 deposit will be refunded in full.

Once the class is confirmed, enrolled families will receive instructions for paying the remaining balance. Families may either pay the remaining balance in full or use the four-payment plan below.

If the class is confirmed but a family chooses not to continue with enrollment, the deposit will be refunded according to the cancellation and refund policy below.

TUITION

Tuition is $300 for the complete 12-week session. This includes all 12 group lessons, the student’s beginner lesson book, and class materials.

Choose either:

• Pay remaining balance of $280 in full
• Four payments $55 balance due 9/30, $75 payments due 10/15, 11/15 and 12/15.

The payment plan is offered as a convenience. Registration is for the complete 12-week program, and selecting the payment plan does not create month-to-month enrollment. Families remain responsible for the complete tuition balance after the introductory withdrawal period described below.

KEYBOARD REQUIREMENTS

Each student will need to bring a portable electronic keyboard to every class.

The keyboard should have:

• At least 61 full-size keys
• A built-in music stand or attachable music rest
• A headphone jack
• An AC power adapter
• Battery capability is helpful but not required

Each student will also need a pair of wired headphones that fits the keyboard’s headphone connection. An inexpensive adapter may be needed depending on the keyboard and headphones.

Please label the keyboard, power adapter, headphones, and other accessories with the student’s name.

A recommended keyboard package is available for approximately $200, but families are welcome to use another suitable keyboard they already own or purchase elsewhere. Please contact Jot & Tittle Studios before purchasing if you would like help determining whether a keyboard will work for the class.

PRACTICE AT HOME

Students should have regular access to their keyboard at home. Short, consistent practice sessions between classes will help students feel successful and keep pace with the group.

Five to ten minutes of practice on most days is more beneficial than one long practice session each week. Parents do not need to have previous musical experience to support their child.

ENROLLMENT AND ATTENDANCE

Enrollment is limited to keep the class small and allow each student to receive individual attention.

Registration reserves one of the limited spaces for the complete 12-week session. Because the lessons build upon one another, regular attendance is strongly encouraged.

Missed classes due to illness, vacations, sports, or other personal scheduling conflicts are not refundable and cannot be credited toward another program. When possible, students will receive information about what was covered so they can practice at home.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Cancellations made at least 14 days before the first class will receive a full refund.

Cancellations made fewer than 14 days before the first class will receive a refund only if the student’s space can be filled by another participant.

FIRST-CLASS INTRODUCTORY PERIOD

If, after attending the first class, your child decides the program is not a good fit, please contact Jot & Tittle Studios within 48 hours of that class.

Tuition paid beyond the first lesson will be refunded, less:

• $25 for the first lesson
• The cost of any books or materials already provided

After this 48-hour introductory period, tuition is nonrefundable. Families using the four-payment plan remain responsible for the complete outstanding tuition balance.

CLASS DATES

October 16, 23 and 30; November 6, 13 and 20; December 4 and 11; January 8, 15, 22 and 29.

There will be no class November 27, December 18 or 25, or January 1. February 5th is reserved as a possible makeup date. The informal family showcase will be scheduled as the date approaches, likely a Sunday afternoon.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS AND WEATHER

If Jot & Tittle Studios must cancel a lesson, a makeup class will be scheduled whenever possible.

Weather-related cancellations will be communicated as soon as possible and rescheduled using an available makeup date.

If the complete program is canceled or cannot continue, families will receive a prorated refund for any lessons not provided.

SPRING CONTINUATION

This Fall/Winter session concludes in January. Jot & Tittle Studios hopes to offer a continuing spring session, subject to venue availability. Current students will receive priority registration when spring details are confirmed.
